Bayer celebrated its 100 years of presence in Mexico with the announcement of an estimated investment of 7.5 billion pesos at the end of the next three years, and a series of events throughout the country that will demonstrate the company's commitment to Mexicans.
After 10 decades of operations in national territory, the German company consolidates itself as one of the main employers by adding more than 5,000 collaborators, eight production plants and 10 research centers.
Manuel Bravo, general director of Bayer in Mexico, stated that they have come a long way in the country and are grateful for allowing them to be a benchmark for health and food quality.
"Our history began with only five people and today we are the twelfth most important market for the company globally, which is why we are going to continue betting on the growth of Mexico today and for the next 100 years," he commented.
To achieve its vision, Bayer works through three divisions: Pharmaceutical, Consumer and Agricultural , focused on science and innovation to create medical therapies, self-care products, promote the field and thus contribute to improving the quality of life of Mexicans.
To reach this point, in 2021 alone a total of 2.5 billion pesos was allocated, of which 55% was allocated to research and development , and this investment is expected to grow in the coming years.
The Pharmaceutical Division develops more effective and accessible innovative prescription drugs that seek to change the reality of medicine in Mexico and the world for therapeutic areas such as cardiology, oncology, gynecology and ophthalmology, as well as cell and gene therapy.
Currently, it has a portfolio of more than 50 products , and expects in the coming months the approval, in our country, of another five new molecules for cancer, heart care and hemophilia.
Through the Consumer Division , the company offers products for the daily health care of Mexicans; for example, relieving headaches with Aspirin and upset stomachs caused by indigestion with Alka-Seltzer , or strengthening the immune system with Redoxon .
The confidence that Mexicans have in over-the -counter (OTC) products consolidates the company's leadership, with a portfolio of more than 50 medications in six categories - Allergies, Flu, Dermatological, Digestive Health, Nutritional and Analgesics -, which is constantly innovating to offer effective and safe formulas, as well as more accessible and convenient presentations.
Bayer is committed to the Mexican countryside through its Agricultural Division , with technology and innovation as key tools to promote and promote sustainable agriculture. The objective is to support farmers so that they can sustainably grow enough food to supply the demand of millions of Mexican families.
The division is a market leader in corn, sorghum and cotton seeds , with a production of 2.5 million bags of corn seed and 15,000 kilos of vegetable seeds per year that are distributed globally. It also has a broad portfolio of crop protection products.
For Bayer , supporting small farmers, responsible for producing most of the world's food, is a priority; To date, in Mexico the company has already reached two million small producers with training and tailored solutions; the goal is to reach 3.5 million by 2030.
After 100 years of work and commitment, the German company looks to the future responsibly and with a vision of sustainability, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals .
In this sense, the celebration activities will be focused on promoting health and science , as well as support for art, culture and sports.
“In these 100 years, Bayer has sought to improve the quality of life of Mexicans and contribute to the care of their health and nutrition. Together we have overcome world economic crises, natural disasters and a global pandemic, we have done so thanks to the great commitment of our collaborators, a team with the right shirt on and with unmatched professionalism that are the cornerstone of this story”, concluded Manuel Bravo .
