In order to enhance Hyundai Mobis' logistics and supply chain, the expansion of its auto parts redistribution center was carried out at Interpuerto Monterrey, located in Salinas Victoria.
As part of the opening, a prayer ceremony for safety was held with executives from the company, Interpuerto Monterrey, and the municipality's government. Among the attendees were Dong Bin Kim, president of Hyundai Mobis; Mauricio Garza, executive director of Interpuerto Monterrey; and Gonzalo Elizondo, mayor of Salinas Victoria.
The recent expansion will improve the supply chain of the subsidiary companies Kia Motors and Hyundai Motors. The South Korean company, which belongs to the automotive parts manufacturing industry and is a world leader in the field, settled in the state in 2016.
Globally, the Hyundai Mobis corporation comprises 135 companies with a total of 12,000 employees and generates 1.02 billion dollars in sales, according to the Dun and Bradstreet website.
Mobis stands out for developing - for the first time in Korea - the integrated communication controller, which enables real-time communication between vehicles or infrastructure through external communication networks.
The controller connects various vehicle-mounted Electronic Control Units (ECU) - for example, in the powertrain, multimedia, airbags, and braking systems - via wired communication to analyze different real-time vehicle operating data. It can process large amounts of data from sensors such as radars, lidars, and cameras, in addition to data related to autonomous driving.
The connected car, an intelligent mobility device, is expected to change the future's driving environment significantly, recently evolving in various directions, the company announced in a statement.
Hyundai Mobis focuses on developments that involve new technologies in its existing core components to prepare for the new market. The company's presence in Nuevo Leon supports world-class suppliers' development, as its requirements are continually evolving.
