Kloeckner Metals builds what will be its second plant in Mexico in Querétaro

Representatives of the company Kloeckner Metals and local authorities of Querétaro laid the first stone of what will be the second plant of this company in Mexico .
The new location, located in the O'Donnell Industrial Park , will have a 7,500-square-meter warehouse and will house, in a first phase, 20 workers who will operate a manufacturing line for longitudinal cutting of steel. The planned investment for this new plant is around eight million dollars.
"We have, for the first year of startup, around 20,000 or 30,000 tons per year of production, with expectations of reaching 70,000 or 80,000 tons per year," said Roberto Mercado Santos , general manager of the company in Mexico , in an interview. .

Kloeckner's first plant in the country is located in Apodaca, Nuevo León . Thanks to the success of this unit, the global corporate decided to open a second location in Mexico , added the executive.
They chose Querétaro because it is located in the center of the Bajío's automotive activity and because of the logistics infrastructure it offers. Currently, 40% of its production is placed in the automotive sector ; however, they expect this percentage to reach 60% in the Queretaro plant.
“The plant in Apodaca is a very successful plant for the company, with growth in volume, growth in production and the number of customers have also grown exponentially. In this way, [the corporate] has placed confidence, both in us as a team here in Mexico, and in the country, that there is business and an opportunity for growth, "said the representative of the firm.
Mercado Santos said that Kloeckner Metals has registered sustained increases in sales of 25% in Mexico in recent years, a percentage that they hope to maintain in 2022, with the operation of the plant in Querétaro already underway .
"Our approach is to make this plant a success, both for the company and the attention and service of our customers and thereby demonstrate that there is confidence in the company to continue investing in the country."
