Mattel invests 1,000 million pesos to expand its operations in Nuevo León; will be the largest plant in the world

Mattel  plans to invest more than 1,000 million pesos to expand the facilities of its toy hub located in Escobedo, Nuevo León. 

In this complex they manufacture the brand's toys and it is developed in an area of ​​200,000 square meters; and with its expansion it is planned to generate 3,500 jobs.

Ynon Kreiz, CEO of Mattel, commented that with this injection of capital, the Mexican plant will become one of the largest in the world of the organization .

Likewise, it is projected to double the investment in the next five years , in order to continue expanding its operations in Mexico.

WATER TREATMENT PLANT

The Montoi facilities will have a new water treatment plant , and in this way, they plan to use the resource for plant irrigation and sanitary use, for which they will be generating savings of 20% in consumption .

Iván Rivas, head of the Ministry of Economy of Nuevo León , stated that this project is betting on new technologies, being a benchmark in the implementation of industry 4.0 . 

It should be noted that the production of the plant is made up of 47% of national inputs , so they aim to support local suppliers and motivate international ones to establish themselves in Mexico, so they will be generating growth in supply of resins, packaging and batteries .

The Nuevo León toy hub has a unique opportunity as it has a good geographical location, has the appropriate infrastructure and one of the best qualified workforces.

The Monterrey plant produces the Barbie house , the Power Wheels mounts and the Mega Blocks , and where it has made an investment of more than 1,000 million pesos between 2020 and 2022, so it will be the largest complex worldwide in the company. 

PROJECTION

It should be remembered that Mattel announced in 2019 that it would seek to build three smaller plants within the Nuevo León manufacturing complex and increase production capacity by 50% by 2020 and 150% by last year; the foregoing, with the objective of exporting from Mexico to 100 countries.

The Montoi plant plays a central role in Mattel 's reimagined global value chain operation , creating a key value chain factory in the Americas that supports the strategy to grow as a high-performance toy company.
