Metalsa will invest 170 million dollars to install a plant in Guanajuato

With an investment of 170 million dollars and the generation of 1,024 jobs , the Metalsa company laid the first stone of a new plant in Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato, in order to supply the Toyota assembly plant . It will manufacture chassis for the Tacoma truck that is built at the plant in Guanajuato and Baja California .
This factory will be located within the supply complex of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Guanajuato , it is part of the conglomerate of companies that settle in the area to serve as Tier1 suppliers .
This plant is part of the automotive metal auto parts division and is the only one located outside the North of the country.
On a 63,015-square-meter site , Metalsa will manufacture a volume of 270,000 chassis units per year and will start production in November 2023.
Juan Francisco García, president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Guanajuato, stated that one of the main objectives upon arriving in this region was to promote economic development and create sources of employment , as active members of the community.
“Metalsa remains committed to our alliance and seeks competitiveness in the business, an example of which is the construction of this plant. They have demonstrated their commitment to technological innovation and optimization of industrial processes ”, he commented.
He highlighted the quality of the labor force in the region and the impact of the employment opportunities that will be generated around the suppliers that are about to arrive in the area.
SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT
Jorge Garza, president of Metalsa, reported that the working relationship with Toyota Mexico began in 2004 when they obtained their first contract to manufacture chassis in North America.
The new plant promises to take care of the environment with emission reduction technologies, which will be followed since its construction under a sustainability model with a work environment that will raise the quality of life of its employees.
Sustainability concepts are integrated together with various areas of the organization, beyond production. This approach shapes Metalsa's Sustainability Operating Model, which includes controls and practices in all business areas. It focuses on three basic concepts such as : sustainable projects, social sustainability and sustainable design and process performance.
METALSA IN THE REGION
Ciro Valdéz, Vice President of the Metalsa Light Vehicles Business Unit, spoke about the general context of the Metalsa project in the region , saying that the development of society is essential and therefore they placed their resources and infrastructure to create synergy with the population. Guanajuato.
“Guanajuato's economy is one of the strongest in the Bajío, thanks to human capital and at Metalsa we join this drive to contribute to the growth of this region. This high-impact project will generate 1,024 jobs, which we are already beginning to hire, and the impact capacity that this plant has in Guanajuato will allow the plant to be working at 100% of its capacity by November 2023 ,” he commented.
He added that the chassis manufactured by Metalsa helps its clients move the world in an efficient and sustainable manner, ensuring long-term economic and social value for the various interest groups.
