TARAFERT starts its second phase
Durango
By Redacción
Despite
the uncertainty generated by the SARS COV-2 pandemic, investor confidence in
the state of Durango remains firm. Tarafert will be the first greenfield urea
fertilizer plant in Mexico in more than 30 years. Starting operations in 2023
with its first plant, Tarafert will change the Mexican fertilizer market,
ensuring that farmers have access to high-quality fertilizers at reasonable
prices, produced locally in northern Mexico, in the center of Mexico's
agricultural regions.
TARAFERT has
been represented since 2015 by a group of Mexican and European entrepreneurs.
The project represents a significant step in rescuing the fertilizer production
sector in agriculture and an essential investment in an industry that has been dormant
and ignored for too long in Mexico.
For decades, Mexico's urea demand of nearly two million tons per year has been met exclusively by importers. Tarafert's state-of-the-art, world-class urea project in Durango will correct this unacceptable situation and serve the Mexican farmer by offering premium quality urea at competitive and fair prices, right in Mexico's agricultural heartland.
TARAFERT's plant
in the Lagunera Region will position Durango and Mexico as a leading producer
of urea fertilizer domestically and abroad, in addition to facilitating Mexican
farmers to have better access to a competitive supply of urea and ammonia made
in Mexico at better prices for their production.
