The state of Colima is known for having natural conditions favorable to the development of the agricultural and food industry.
The activities represent 4.5% of the GDP. In 2018, the total agricultural and fishing volume registered 3,642,664 tons. In addition, there are 43,750 hectares of technical land with irrigation systems.
The state exports fresh products such as banana, blackberry, blueberry, lemon, mango, green melon, watermelon, papaya and pineapple. As for processed products, the exportation of coconut cream, coconut oil, dehydrated coconut, coconut substrate, tamarind pulp, lemon powder, frozen lemon juice, among others, stands out.
These products have different national and international certifications, among which are: Global GAP, Mexico Calidad Suprema, GMP, Primus GFS, Senasica, Japanese Agricultural Standard of Organic Products, Tesco, Kosher, HACCP, FDA, CTPAT and Safe Quality Food.
In this sector, there are opportunities in the agro-industry: production of vegetables, tropical fruits, ornamental plants, tropical woods, modular units of pre-cooling, packaging and processing plants of tropical fruits, and trading companies.
