PORT OF MANZANILLO
The Port of Manzanillo has become one of the main entry and exit doors for goods to international markets in Europe, North America, Central America, South America, Asia and Oceania.
The port has a static capacity of 52,812 TEU's and registered a containerized movement of 3,078,505 TEU's (44.1% of the country) in 2018.
It consists of 437 hectares that include water areas, docks and storage. Under roof it has a surface of 26,547 m2; patios, 566,448 m2; sheds, 1,514 m2; and silos, 95,000 tons.
The port area is composed of 437 Has., which include water zones, docks and storage. It currently has 19 mooring positions (14 commercial, 3 for hydrocarbons and 2 for cruise ships) divided into two polygons; its second polygon is the one with the biggest development.
Currently, the port holds 23 berths: 17 commercial berths, three for hydrocarbons, two for cruise ships and one for liquefied natural gas.
There are plans to expand the port to the Laguna de Cuyutlan. Phase 2 authorized Port Laguna de Cuyutlan contemplates 1,600 hectares, 40 berth positions and 18 meters of draught.
It is worth mentioning that it has 6.20 kilometers of internal roads and 24.70 kilometers of railroads for the evacuation of the goods that move through the port, which allows for the adequate and safe evacuation of the cargo.
The Port of Manzanillo is connected to the interior of the country through the rail and road network. The main shipping lines operating in the port are Ocean Network Express, Mediterranean Shipping Company, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk Line, Yang Ming and Evergreen, among others.
CANAL DEPTH
Oriented to the southeast with a length of 600 meters and a depth of up to 16 meters. The canal is located between the hills of the “South” breakwaters and the “North” breakwaters from the port.
