The state of Durango is located in the northwestern part of the country, bordering to the north with Chihuahua, to the northwest with Coahuila, to the southeast with Zacatecas, to the south with Nayarit and to the west with Sinaloa.

It ranks fourth as Mexico's largest state with a territorial expansion of 48,410 Miles Sq, 6.3% of the national territory.

Its capital is Victoria de Durango and its elevation is 6,200 ft.

Durango holds a population of 1,832,650, from which more than half live in the metropolitan area. It ranks 24th in number of inhabitants in all of Mexico and the average age is 27 years old.

The climate in most of Durango is cold and very dry, with an average temperature of 17º C (62.6 ° F).
In spring temperatures are up to 35º, while in summer it rains heavily and in winter it is one of the coldest areas in the country.
