The government of the State of Guanajuato has made great efforts to create the ideal conditions for the installation of world-class companies and has managed to attract companies such as GM, Honda, Mazda, AAM, Bosch, Toyota, Continental, and GKN, among others. Thanks to the implementation of a program of scholarships, incentives, and support services to companies, the State of Guanajuato has become a strategic partner in more than 500 investment projects landed in the last 20 years and Guanajuato has become the 6th economy in the country.

The culture of entrepreneurship has taken root among its inhabitants and has been consolidated thanks to the link between universities, innovation centers, incubators, accelerators, investors, as well as within communities and events such as Talent Land and Singularity Summit, which have led to the birth and growth of incubated and accelerated startups within the ecosystem.

Jalisco is located in the western part of the country. The State is bordered to the north by Nayarit, Durango, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes; to the northwest by San Luis Potosí; to the east by Zacatecas, Guanajuato, and Michoacán de Ocampo; to the south by Michoacán de Ocampo, Colima and the Pacific Ocean; and to the west by the Pacific Ocean and Nayarit.

It has a surface area of 80,222 Km² and represents 4% of the national territory. Its capital is the city of Guadalajara and is divided into 125 municipalities.

Jalisco is situated 546 kilometers from Mexico City, the country's capital. It is also close to the industrial corridor of downtown and Bajío, located 274 kilometers from the capital of the State of Guanajuato and 382 kilometers from Querétaro.

The state of Jalisco enjoys a temperate climate, with an average temperature of 20.5° C. In addition, it has humid regions due to its wide coastal area, with periods of abundant rainfall.

850mm approximately is the average annual rainfall, in coastal areas is more than 1,000 mm.

Elevations: Nevado de Colima, Volcán de Colima, Sierra de Tapalpa, Cerro Viejo, Volcán de Tequila, Sierra de los Huicholes, Sierra de Mantatlán.

28 Rivers: Grande de Santiago, Ameca, Verde, Bolaños, Atenguillo, Colotlán-Huejucar, Ayutla-Ayuquila, Lerma, El Naranjo, Tuxpan, Marabasco-Minatitlán, Mascota, Purificación, El Oro, San Nicolás and Tomatlán, to mention a few.

6 Dams: Cajón de Peña, Santa Rosa, La Vega, Tacotán, Ramon Corona (Trigomil) and Constitución de Apatzingán.

5 Lagoons: Atotonilco, Cajititlán, Sayula, San Marcos and Zapotlán.

Jalisco has protected natural areas, (12 are federal, 5 State and 4 Municipal).

TYPE OF SOIL

The territory of Jalisco has 416.92 kilometers of Coast in which are the Municipalities of Puerto Vallarta, Cabo Corrientes, Tomatlán, La Huerta and Cihuatlan. The maximum elevation is Volcan Nevado de Colima with 4,260 M.A.S.L, followed b the Volcan de Fuego de Colima with 3,820 M.A.S.L and then Cerro Viejo with 2,960 M.A.S.L. In Jalisco more than 118,116.6 hectares are occupied by bodies of water. 41.7% of the surface of the State is in flat areas, 26.3 % in hilly areas and 32% in mountainous areas. The dominant types of soil are phaeozem, regosol and vertisol. The depht of the soil is varible, predominantly superficial soils (25 to 50 cm deep) and deep soils (more than 100 cm).

The largest of the County is Chapala with an area of 1,116 km2 and its storage capacity is of 8,126 hm3.
